Brief description
The International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL) is the first International Intergovernmental Organisation (IGO) in Europe focused on Nanosciences and Nanotechnology and it counts on Spain and Portugal as member states. INL is devoted to the development of nanotechnologies in the medical, environmental, and electronics area. It operates a 1000m2 cleanroom facility for 200mm wafers devoted to novel beyond CMOS and More than Moore devices (e.g. NEMS, spintronics, carbon and graphene based devices, nanophotonics, etc..). INL is fostering an interdisciplinary environment where physicists, chemists, biologists, electrical engineers, work together sharing some of the common research goals The laboratory has been projected for a research community of about 400 people at full operation, including around 200 postdoctoral scientists exclusively dedicated to address the major challenges of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies. INL is equipped with a clean room for micro and nanofabrication (class 100 and 1000), a central lab for nanocharacterization analysis equipped with the latest electron microscopes. Other central laboratories include the biochemistry facility, magnetometry and electrical characterization labs as well as the microfluidics, and packaging laboratories. It´s research activities include magnetic and optical nanoparticle synthesis, functionalization and characterization as well as bio/nanosensor development (micromagnetism, transport phenomena, GMR sensors, bioelectronics) and other related technologies.
