Short abstract and comments
The goal of this project was to develop technologies and tools in the field of healthcare, which can significantly improve medical procedures in a variety of specialties. The project consisted of four separate initiatives: 1) Stroke Online - to provide real time audio and video of patients in the first line of medical assistance, allowing for earlier diagnosis of strokes. This initiative was developed with the Stroke Unit of Hospitais da Universidade de Coimbra. 2) RDFixer – Endoscope’s Radial Distortion Correction to increase the usefulness of computer-assisted vision technologies in medical procedures related with endoscope surgery. This initiative was developed with Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia da Universidade de Coimbra. 3) Retmarker – Monitoring the progression of micro-aneurysms using non-angiographic images to allow a more accurate and effective diagnosis of diseases such as diabetic retinopathy. This initiative was developed with AIBILI. Glautech to provide early detection of glaucoma by means of functional tests with a new and innovative device. This initiative was developed with Neuroeye.
