Short abstract and comments
A laryngoscope is a medical device commonly used in most hospitals worldwide used to conduct oral or endotracheal intubation which eventually leads to changes in some of the patient parameters (heart rate, blood pressure, etc.) due to the force applied on the tongue and other soft-tissues. If an excessive force is applied, severe injuries may be induced on patients. Thus, this device provides a real-time measurement and analysis of the applied force and orientation in space as to trigger visual and audible alarms whenever the patients may be on risk. It can also be used as training device in phantom models to allow teachers to evaluate the performance of their students. Commercialization rights sold to Metablue.
