Brief description

The Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA: E) [HESC-Center-Coimbra-742] his hosted by the ESEnfC. This research unit has been evaluated and funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology since 2004. UICISA: E develops R&D activities in the field of nursing and allied health sciences, at an interdisciplinary and international level. Such activities aim to provide a sustainable and socially responsible response to complex problems related to health promotion, disease prevention, and care delivery to sick, disabled, or end-of-life patients. To achieve its mission, the UICISA: E carries out research projects focused on priority areas, aligned with the European agenda and the evidence of health gains resulting from health care research, to respond to both local and global health challenges. To develop these research projects, the UICISA: E has been successful in attracting funding from a variety of sources as part of several national and international networks.The Nursing School of Coimbra (ESEnfC), heir to the most ancient nursing training in Portugal (since 1881), is a nationally and internationally recognized public institution due to its quality and innovation, with a recognized intervention in the health system and in society. Its educational community is committed with the humanist, scientific, technical and cultural training of socially recognized professionals, the promotion of accredited research, the dissemination of knowledge and the provision of services.
