Brief description

The Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) is an education and research institution founded in 1911 which integrates 20 R&D centres devoted to a wide array of scientific disciplines - in exact, natural and technological sciences -, allowing a multidisciplinary and translational approach to Health science and technology. The majority of the R&D projects are managed via the Fundação da Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, a structure responsible for the management of over 400 projects. Through the University of Lisbon, FCUL is part of a consortium of over 150 leading institutions called EIT-Health, which will work for the next years in the field of Healthy Living for an Active Ageing. FCUL also has a business incubator (TecLabs) directed at fostering innovation and knowledge transfer through the support to start-ups and spin-offs born from FCUL research activities. The Faculty offers state-of-the-art facilities including laboratories and equipment regularly requested by the community for services. With 43 Masters Courses and 24 Doctoral Programmes leading to a degree, FCUL integrates 435 teachers and around 850 PhD researchers, who publish over 500 ISI papers a year. FCUL has signed International Cooperation Agreements with over 100 universities from 30 countries.
