Brief description
The Research Institute for Medicines (iMed.ULisboa) is a R&D institution located at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon. The mission of iMed.ULisboa is to foster fundamental research at the interface between biology and chemistry aimed at understanding the genetic and molecular basis of human diseases and improving the development of novel therapeutic agents and medicines, using a translational research approach. iMed.ULisboa was created to fill a gap at the national level in terms of interdisciplinary teams capable of developing basic-to-applied research based on the drug discovery and development (DDD) paradigm. Some iMed.ULisboa core groups have links to other researchers in pharmaceutical companies, thus allowing knowledge and skill transfer on drug development process. Another important mission of iMed.ULisboa is to provide advanced training in pharmaceutical and related sciences at the post-graduate level.
